Galerija Fotografija Store and Exhibition Space

Galerija Fotografija, Slovenia's first private gallery specializing in photography since 2003. Initially focused on exhibitions, it expanded in 2014 to include a bookstore offering works by Slovenian and international authors on photographic art, as well as archival materials.

Galerija’s new space within the renovated Rog Center is articulated with a precise spatial organization and material clarity. Two standard Rog rental modules were merged by removing dividing walls, creating a unified elongated volume. The revised layout retains two atriums but closes one staircase, enabling a continuous circulation loop around one of the atriums, while preserving visual connections between floors.

Three abstract volumes and two vertical planes are added, then perforated in wood to establish both visual and physical connections across the space. This two-layer composition creates an interplay between abstract, floating forms and functional niches of the program. The ground floor opens to the street with a public-facing bookstore, while the mezzanine has a quieter, focused environment for exhibitions and cultural events. Adaptable furniture systems add to the flexibility of the space, allowing it to accommodate various uses such as exhibitions, lectures, and social gatherings.
